- Hair on the upper lip - That part of the beard which grows on the upper lip; hair
left growing above the mouth. - A West African monkey (Cercopithecus cephus). It has
yellow whiskers, and a triangular blue mark on the nose. - Any conspicuous stripe of color on the side of the head,
beneath the eye of a bird.
- A lip or edge, as of a basin. - An organ in insects and crustaceans covering the upper part
of the mouth, and serving as an upper lip. See Illust. of Hymenoptera. - The external margin of the aperture of a shell. See

- A bone on either side of the middle line between the
nose and mouth, forming the anterior part of each half of the upper
jawbone; the intermaxilla. In man the premaxillae become united and
form the incisor part of the maxillary bone.
