- A species of grass (Tripsacum dactyloides) tall, stout,
and exceedingly productive; cultivated in the West Indies, Mexico, and
the Southern States of North America as a forage grass; -- called also
sesame grass.
- Type of tabloid newspaper - A kind of grass (Agrostis vulgaris) highly valued in the
United States for pasturage and hay for cattle; -- called also English
grass, and in some localities herd's grass. See Illustration in
Appendix. The tall redtop is Triodia seslerioides.
- A tall perennial grass (Sorghum Halepense), valuable
in the Southern and Western States for pasture and hay. The rootstocks
are large and juicy and are eagerly sought by swine. Called also Cuba
grass, Means grass, Evergreen millet, and Arabian millet.
