- Any one of a large series of aniline dyes, colored blue
or violet, and represented by aniline violet. - A dark green amorphous dyestuff, produced by the
oxidation of aniline in the presence of copper or vanadium salts; --
called also aniline black.
- Of, pertaining to, or designating, a complex nitroso
derivative of barbituric acid. It is obtained as a white or yellow
crystalline substance, and forms characteristic yellow, blue, and
violet salts.
