- An order of Entomostraca including a large number
of species, most of which live in fresh water. They have flattened or
leaflike legs, often very numerous, which they use in swimming. Called
also Branchiopoda.
- A division of beetles, including a large number of
species, in which the antennae are very long. Most of them, while in
the larval state, bore into the wood or beneath the bark of trees, and
