- A small, graceful South African antelope (Nanotragus
oreotragus), which, like the chamois, springs from one crag to another
with great agility; -- called also kainsi.
- A large South African antelope (Alcelaphus caama),
formerly much more abundant than it is now. The face and legs are
marked with black, the rump with white.
- A large South African antelope (Aepyceros melampus). The
male has long lyrate and annulated horns. The general color is bay,
with a black crescent on the croup. Called also roodebok.
