- Scapula, ... blade - The area of the body between the neck and the top of the arm - The upper joint of the arm - The joint, or the region of the joint, by which the fore

projection formed by the bones and muscles about that joint. - The flesh and muscles connected with the shoulder joint;
the upper part of the back; that part of the human frame on which it is
most easy to carry a heavy burden; -- often used in the plural. - Fig.: That which supports or sustains; support. - That which resembles a human shoulder, as any
protuberance or projection from the body of a thing.
- Collarbone - The collar bone, which is joined at one end to the
scapula, or shoulder blade, and at the other to the sternum, or
breastbone. In man each clavicle is shaped like the letter /, and is
situated just above the first rib on either side of the neck. In birds
the two clavicles are united ventrally, forming the merrythought, or
wishbone.
