- A large ganoid fish (Polyodon spathula) found in the
rivers of the Mississippi Valley. It has a long spatula-shaped snout.
Called also duck-billed cat, and spoonbill sturgeon.
- A large European sturgeon (Acipenser huso), inhabiting the
region of the Black and Caspian Seas. It sometimes attains a length of
more than twelve feet, and a weight of two thousand pounds. Called also
hausen. - The huchen, a large salmon.
