- Fodder grass - A straw, wire, stick, etc., used chiefly to point out
letters to children when learning to read. - An instrument for playing on the harp; a plectrum. - The style of a dial. - A grass of the genus Festuca. - To use a fescue, or teach with a fescue.
- A kind of grass (Phleum pratense) with long
cylindrical spikes; -- called also herd's grass, in England, cat's-tail
grass, and meadow cat's-tail grass. It is much prized for fodder. See

- A large grass (Euchlaena luxurians) closely related to
maize. It is native of Mexico and Central America, but is now
cultivated for fodder in the Southern United States and in many warm
countries. Called also Guatemala grass.
