- Forest giant - huge coniferous - A genus of coniferous trees, consisting of two species,
Sequoia Washingtoniana, syn. S. gigantea, the "big tree" of California,
and S. sempervirens, the redwood, both of which attain an immense
height.
- A semifluid or fluid oleoresin, primarily the exudation
of the terebinth, or turpentine, tree (Pistacia Terebinthus), a native
of the Mediterranean region. It is also obtained from many coniferous
trees, especially species of pine, larch, and fir.
- A genus of coniferous trees of the northen hemisphere,
including the Norway spruce and the American black and white spruces.
These trees have pendent cones, which do not readily fall to pieces, in
this and other respects differing from the firs.
