- Asiatic shrub - Cotton fabric - Synthetic fabric - The grass-cloth plant (B/hmeria nivea); also, its fiber,
which is very fine and exceedingly strong; -- called also China grass,

- An Asiatic and North African shrub (Lawsonia inermis),
with smooth oval leaves, and fragrant white flowers. Henna is prepared
from the leaves and twigs. In England the shrub is called Egyptian
privet, and in the West Indies, Jamaica mignonette.
- Any shrub or tree of the genus Tamarix, the species of
which are European and Asiatic. They have minute scalelike leaves, and
small flowers in spikes. An Arabian species (T. mannifera) is the
source of one kind of manna.
