Brazilian football icon Pele ‘doing fine’ despite continuing worries over urinary tract infection

Brazilian football great Pele says he is ‘doing fine’ as he receives treatment for a urinary tract infection in Sao Paulo.

The 74-year-old was moved to the intensive care unit of the Albert Einstein hospital on Thursday, prompting fears that his condition may have taken a turn for the worse. But Pele claims that the move was to allow him to recover away from the public eye.

“I want to take this opportunity to let you know that I am doing fine,” he tweeted on Thursday night.

I was not put into intensive care today, I was simply relocated to a special room within the hospital for privacy purposes only. While I appreciate all the visitors that came to see me, I really need to continue my treatment and recovery in peace.
